Volunteer

The Genesee District Library is a dynamic county-wide resource that provides free access to information, materials, and services to all members of the community to stimulate ideas, advance knowledge, and enhance the quality of life. We have 19 branches throughout Genesee County.

Volunteers are individuals who provide special services for Genesee District Library without wages or benefits. Volunteers do not take the place of paid staff.

The Genesee District Library Volunteer Program has many opportunities for people to share their skills, talents, knowledge, experience, time, and energy. The types of duties available are as varied and diverse as our volunteers. While we do utilize volunteers in a daily capacity at our branches, we are also in need of those individuals who are interested in volunteering on an “as needed” basis to help out at special events such as our Author Visits and other unique programs. These types of volunteers would be called upon to assist in setting up and running events and may even get the opportunity to meet famous authors and other individuals who are the highlight of these programs.

The purpose of the Genesee District Library Volunteer Program is to enable the library to continue to provide educational, recreational, and cultural services and programs free of charge to the community.
