  • Hello Song (using ASL):  Hello Friends

    Hello friends,
    Hello friends,
    Hello friends,
    It’s time to say hello.

    Library Letter:

    “Dear Miss Marissa,

I hope you can come and visit the Linden Library soon. If you do, you will see that the library has a new children’s area with cushy window seats and a cute rug with lily pads for kids to hop on! Also, we have a coloring table with crayons, markers and coloring sheets. There are 2 big windows where you can sit and read stories or just relax and look out over the Shiawassee River and Linden Mill Pond. The view is very pretty! We often see people kayaking in the pond, walking dogs around the park, fishing in the river, and families swimming in the pond. Sometimes we see turtles sunning themselves on the rocks and also a big gray heron that stands on the edge of the rocks and catches fish in its beak. A few times I have even seen slinky mink-like animals that look sort of like long skinny black cats coming out from between the rocks and swimming in the water!
I hope to see you here soon Miss Marissa!

    Love, Miss Katie

Library Field Trip: Linden Library Branch

We visited the Linden Library Branch. There we toured visited Miss Katie, sang a song by the Shiawassee River, and read the book Five Busy Beavers.

Song: Put Your Arms Up High

Put your arms up high, put your arms down low
Put your arms in the middle and wiggle just so
Put your elbows to the front, put your elbows to the back
Put your elbows to the side and
    Quack, quack, quack

Book: Five Busy Beavers by Stella Partheniou Grasso

Felt Song: Five Green and Speckled Frogs

Five green and speckled frogs sat on a speckled log
    Eating some most delicious bugs.
    Yuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmm…yuuummm!

    One jumped into the pool
where it was nice and cool
Then there were four green speckled frogs
    Glub glub

    Four green and speckled frogs…
    Three green and speckled frogs…
    Two green and speckled frogs…
    One green and speckled frog…
…Then there were no green speckled frogs!
    Glub glub, glub, glub

    Mystery Box:

Today we had bubbles and rhythm sticks in the mystery box.

Fingerplay: I Had a Tiny Turtle (using ASL for the bolded words)

    I had a little turtle,
    His name was Tiny Tim.
I put him in the bathtub to see if he could swim.
He drank up all the water,
He ate a bar of soap.
And now he’s lying in his bed
    With bubbles in his throat.

    Bubble, bubble, bubble,
    Bubble, bubble, bubble,
    Bubble, bubble, bubble,
    Bubble, bubble, pop!

Rhythm Stick Song: Look in the Garden

Mmm ahh went the little green frog one day.
Mmm ahh went the little green frog.
Mmm ahh went the little green frog one day.
And they all went mmm, mmm, ahh.
But… We know frogs go (clap) shanananana.
    (clap) shanananana.
    (clap) shanananana.
We know frogs go (clap) shanananana.
They don’t go mmm, mmm, ahh.

Bloop, bloop went the little blue fish one day.
Bloop, bloop went the little blue fish.
Bloop, bloop went the little blue fish one day.
And they all went bloop, bloop, bloop. But..
We know fish go (kiss) kissy, kissy kiss.
    (kiss) kissy, kissy kiss.
    (kiss) kissy, kissy kiss.
We know fish go (kiss) kissy, kissy kiss.
They don’t go bloop, bloop, bloop.

    Goodbye song: Goodbye friends

    Goodbye friends,
    Goodbye friends,
    Goodbye friends,
    It’s time to say goodbye.
