You Need to Know:
Wireless networks are less secure than other forms of data transmission because wireless data is sent through the air. The GDL network is an open network and is not secure. The best way to be secure as possible on a wireless network is to not transmit information of a personal nature, such as social security numbers, bank account numbers, etc. Always assume that others may view any information you share or transmit. We strongly recommend that you have Antivirus and personal firewall software, and make sure it is updated.
Most WiFi equipment will be compatible. However, the Genesee District Library can make no guarantee to compatibility of your equipment with the library’s network. The library cannot guarantee you will be able to make a wireless connection.
Please note: Genesee District Library staff cannot assist with your computer, wireless network card, or configuration. They cannot perform any troubleshooting on your computer. You are responsible for knowing how to configure your own equipment. If you need assistance, refer to the manufacturer’s documentation or contact them directly. The library staff cannot accept the liability of handling your equipment.
Genesee District Library assumes no responsibility for any loss or damages done directly or indirectly to personal data or equipment, or for any damage or injury arising from loss of privacy arising from use of its World Wide Web server, wireless connection, or connection to other Internet services.
