Library Services for Homebound Patrons

The Genesee District Library is taking library services to the people!

Any Genesee County or Tyrone Township resident who is permanently or temporarily homebound can register for a Genesee District Library card and begin receiving library books in the mail at no cost to qualified patrons.

How do you register?

• Call the Service at 810-732-1120 to have a registration form mailed to you or someone can pick up a form from any GDL branch.
• You can send a message to request a registration form.
• Download the registration form (.pdf file).

Books, Books, and More Books

Choose any book in the GDL system! There are many books available in either regular or large print. Bestsellers, romances, mysteries, biographies, children's, health, and non-fiction books are available.

Titles can be requested by:

• Calling the Homebound Service at 810-732-1120 or
• Sending a message to the Homebound Service
• Holds can be placed on books in the GDL online catalog with your library card number and PIN.

You select titles, authors, or subjects to read. Books are then mailed to you. They arrive in a purple nylon mail bag as shown in the photos above. When you are finished reading the book(s), reverse the address card on the front of the nylon mail bag and mail the books back in the same bag.
